At the end of the day...

Eco-Friday blog post

This has been one of those weeks. You know the kind...relentlessly busy but not achieving as much as you hoped to...all because of little details...sanding floors that took longer than expected, an unexpected but delightful find of some eco-decking that required collecting, covering floors for rain that never eventuates, moving floorboards, clearing piles of logs, cutting perimeters, picking up a lovely picnic table...all fine achievements, but we are at crunch time, so our expectations are sky high!

Energy levels are depleting, but motivation is at an all time high. The more jobs we do, the more we want to do. I can already predict that ‘grand opening date’ is going to be a really tough decision...because when will we be truly ‘ready’? With so many ideas and plans, we could work on the project for another year and still feel like there was more we wanted to do. It’s going to come down to drawing a line in the sand at some stage, accepting that some projects are more of a marathon than a sprint.

What is clear now is that extreme decisiveness is required for all aspects. No more researching, shortlisting, rethinking or deliberating. It’s action time and it can be a bit of a shock to the system. Having to commit to a path, knowing that there are multiple different paths, and hoping that the path you have chosen will be the most economical and practical, as well as impressive, environmentally friendly and effective, is really just a calculated leap of faith.

Some of the decisions are easier than others, and some are probably really not as big a deal to others as they are to us. A wineglass that holds wine is a good wineglass after all! The more decisions we make the more complete that end picture becomes...and it’s a pretty picture indeed!

We will keep giving everything we have to see this dream through. Making decisions, relentlessly building, and keeping our eyes focussed on that long term vision! It will all be worth it in the end...even if we do need to be our own first guests for a relaxing holiday! 😂
